C. D. Martin, partner at Kelly Hart, is focused on various areas of oil and gas law in Texas and New Mexico. He is board certified in Natural Resources Law, Oil & Gas, by the New Mexico Board of Legal Specialization (and has previously served as a member of the Natural Resources Committee as well as serving as the Chairman thereof). Mr. Martin spends considerable time practicing in the energy lending area for financial institutions. In addition, he also has experience in oil and gas property acquisitions, title and contract matters, and banking matters relating to oil and gas.
He graduated in 1964 with a B.S. from the University of North Texas and received an L.L.B. in 1967 from The University of Texas School of Law. He is licensed in both Texas and New Mexico.
Mr. Martin is past president of the Midland County Bar Association, former Chairman of the Midland City Planning and Zoning Commission and has served as local Director of the University of Texas Law School Association. He has served as a Trustee of the Petroleum Museum, is currently a member of the Advisory Board of the University Of Texas Permian Basin College of Arts & Sciences, as well as currently serving on the Community Board of Directors of Wells Fargo Bank Texas, Midland, N.A. Mr. Martin is a member of, and has also served as general counsel to, the Permian Basin Petroleum Association. He is a member of the Permian Basin Landmen’s Association. He is admitted to the federal courts of New Mexico and the Western and Northern Districts of Texas. He is a Life Fellow of the Texas Bar Foundation and a Fellow of the New Mexico Bar Foundation.
