Seth E. Burt

Biography

Seth E. Burt focuses his practice on oil, gas and energy transactions and litigations.  He represents oil and gas operators and landowners. 

Mr. Burt's transactional experience involves matters related to the purchase and sale of producing properties, joint development agreements, term assignments, pipeline easements, surface use agreements, oil and gas leases, sand and gravel leases and alternative power projects. 

Mr. Burt's litigation experience is before both state and federal courts and includes matters concerning complex lease termination disputes, royalty underpayments and post-production costs, trespass allegations, co-tenant, and overriding royalty interests disputes.

Mr. Burt's representative transactions include advising:
  • Private equity portfolio company in the sale of its Delaware Basin assets to a publically traded company for $855 million
  • An independent exploration and production company in the sale of its producing oil and gas assets in the Permian Basin for over $730 million to a publically traded company
  • An independent exploration and production company in the divestiture of its oil and gas assets in the Permian Basin for $600 million
  • An independent exploration and production company in the acquisition of producing properties for over $600 million
  • A private equity portfolio company in the acquisition of $50 million of midstream and producing upstream assets
  • A mineral owner in the sale of a portion of its assets in the Delaware Basin for $30 million
  • A private mineral company in the acquisition of assets in Reeves County, Texas for a purchase price of $43 million
  • An independent exploration and production company in the acquisition of producing properties located in Colorado and New Mexico for $394 million
  • Private oil and gas company in the acquisition of over $200 million of non-operated working interest in North Dakota in a series of related transactions
  • Private oil and gas company in the acquisition of roughly $85 million of non-operated working interest in five counties in North Dakota;an independent exploration and production company in the sale of producing properties in East Texas for $39 million
