Lee B. Hunt

BIOGRAPHY

Lee Hunt focuses his practice on intellectual property, entertainment law, and general commercial litigation in state and federal court.

Mr. Hunt has managed and enforced trademark portfolios and advised clients in various industries, including media and entertainment, technology, retail, food and beverage, real estate, and education. He has counseled clients on copyright and trademark protection, clearance, registration, licensing, anti-counterfeiting and enforcement, infringement actions, trademark cancellations, oppositions, and appeals before the TTAB and in federal court.  Mr. Hunt also advises clients on IP transactional and litigation issues related to publicity rights, branded entertainment, digital rights, marketing/advertising campaigns, domain names, and software.

Prior to joining Kelly Hart, Mr. Hunt was an attorney at Brackett & Ellis in Fort Worth, Texas, and was formerly a trademark examining attorney for the United States Patent and Trademark Office in Alexandria, Virginia. From 2013-2014, Mr. Hunt served as a judicial law clerk to the Honorable Eva M. Guzman at the Supreme Court of Texas.

Mr. Hunt currently serves as an adjunct professor of law at the University of Houston Law Center, teaching a course on trademark prosecution. He is also a trained mediator and provides volunteer mediations with various non-profit organizations throughout Texas.

Before attending law school, Mr. Hunt served nearly eight years as a sworn officer with the Houston Police Department.

  • Managed trademark portfolio for 100+clients in a variety of industries, including entertainment, food and beverage, and education
  • Obtained favorable outcomes in Uniform Domain-name Dispute Resolution Policy (UDRP) proceedings, trademark opposition proceedings, and trademark cancellation proceedings
  • Mediated to settlement multiple cases involving breach of contract, Sherman Act claims, and real estate matters
  • Filed DMCA takedown notices to remove thousands of counterfeit goods bearing the registered trademark of clients from online retailers
  • Developed branding and trademark strategy for several multi-million dollar companies
  • Received favorable settlements in cases in state and federal courts in Texas and California 
  • Filed hundreds of federal applications for federal trademark protection with the USPTO
