Cheryl P. Leb

BIOGRAPHY

Cheryl P. Leb specializes in safeguarding and preserving both domestic and international intellectual property, while also handling related commercial transactions for her clients. She assists with the registration of copyright and trademark rights, documents manufacturing relationships and distribution arrangements, and facilitates rights licensing and other commercial arrangements that involve the transfer or use of intellectual property rights. Her clientele, which includes prominent consumer brands, authors, publishers, and non-profit charities, depend on her innovative thinking and expertise in navigating the complex legal landscape.

Ms. Leb is passionate about helping companies establish and expand their brands, and she seeks out creative and cost-effective methods to safeguard their intellectual property assets both domestically and internationally. She regularly submits applications to the United States Copyright Office and the United States Patent and Trademark Office and represents clients in Uniform Domain Resolution Policy (UDRP) proceedings. Ms. Leb works closely with her clients to orchestrate multi-national brand expansions, as well as negotiate agreements that cover various intellectual property rights such as technology and service agreements, copyright and trademark licenses, strategic alliance agreements, and publishing agreements.

EXPERIENCE AND HIGHLIGHTS

In her over twenty years of practice, Ms. Leb has worked on numerous transactions involving intellectual property and rights of publicity. The following examples are representative of her specialized practice:

  • Coordinated the management of an internationally known consumer brand’s trademark portfolio in over 40 countries worldwide
  • Represents the heirs to the estate of the legendary golfer Ben Hogan, and coordinates the licensing of his rights of publicity and the publishing of the world famous book, Ben Hogan’s Five Lessons: The Modern Fundamentals of Golf
  • Instituted and won numerous Uniform Domain Name Policy proceedings to recover domain names that infringed upon her clients’ trademark rights
  • Teamed with several clients to establish charitable corporations and then assist in the selection of their trademarks and branding, as well as working with the non-profits to protect their websites, content, and artwork
  • Assists clients in filing trademark registrations with United States Customs and Border Protection and with international custom agencies throughout the world as part of an overall brand protection and anti-counterfeiting initiative
