McClane P. Thompson

BIOGRAPHY

McClane P. Thompson is an attorney in the firm’s Corporate & Securities section.  Mr. Thompson focuses his practice on private equity business, including the drafting and negotiation of confidentiality agreements.  Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Thompson practiced at Martin Legal Group PLLC, where he primarily performed title due diligence and composed various agreements and instruments for oil and gas transactions/operations.

Mr. Thompson earned his J.D. from Texas A&M University School of Law in 2019, where he served as a Staff Editor for the Texas A&M Law Review.  He received his B.A. in Communication from Texas A&M University in 2016, where he was a member of the Texas A&M Corps of Cadets.

EXPERIENCE AND HIGHLIGHTS

• Performed title due diligence for oil and gas transactions involving property in Texas, Ohio, and New Mexico 
• Drafted and reviewed title opinions, service/non-disclosure agreements, purchase and sale agreements, lease ratifications, deeds, easements, and other documents related to oil and gas transactions/operations
• Negotiated favorable settlement for client operator in a contract dispute with service provider
• Counseled clients on the formation/merging/termination of their business entities
• Assisted the management of client trusts, including the governance and modification/extension/termination of same
