Kelly Hart Secures $27 Million Verdict for VBI Group, LLC in Trade Secret Theft Case

The Kelly Hart litigation team— Jeff Whitfield, Joseph Austin, and Dana Law—secured a substantial jury verdict on behalf of their client, VBI Group, LLC d/b/a Ikon Technologies, in the 17th District Court of Tarrant County.

VBI, an Arlington-based technology company specializing in GPS telematics devices and services for car dealerships nationwide, filed suit against its former President, Sales Agent, Director of Technology, and his wife, alleging they misappropriated its proprietary systems to launch a competing telematics business.

Following an intensive two-week trial, the jury awarded VBI more than $27 million in damages, along with attorneys’ fees, for claims including trade secret theft, conspiracy, and breach of fiduciary duty.

In addition, the Kelly Hart team successfully defeated all counterclaims brought by the defendants.
