In his column for the Energy Law Advisor titled “Oklahoma Requires Affidavit to be Filed with Recorded Deed,” Jacob Wall discusses how, starting November 1, 2023, the Oklahoma Legislature, through Senate Bill 121, has strengthened restrictions on real estate ownership. This now requires every filed deed to include an affidavit from the grantee, confirming their eligibility as a United States citizen or bona fide Oklahoma resident to hold title to Oklahoma realty, including oil and gas interests.
